Your Profile

Your profile is your presence in the Illumera network. The more complete and accurate it is, the better the matching engine scores you against open project slots. The Profile page has three tabs — Overview, Links, and Visibility — reachable at /person/profile and /person/profile/:tab.

A completeness notice appears at the top of the page until your profile reaches 100%, and a Profile Completeness bar shows your progress.

Edit your professional identity​

Goal: Set the headline, bio, seniority, and work-type preferences shown to companies.

  1. Go to Profile → Overview (/person/profile/overview).
  2. Set your Headline — a short phrase shown below your name in search results (e.g. "Senior Frontend Engineer · React · Node.js").
  3. Write your Bio (up to 500 characters) describing your background and what you're looking for.
  4. Choose your Seniority Level: junior, mid, senior, lead, principal, or fellow.
  5. Select one or more Work Type Preferences: full-time, part-time, contract, hourly, or project-based.
  6. Click Save Changes.

An honest seniority level improves match quality. Companies evaluate you against the slot's role expectations, so overstating seniority tends to lower, not raise, your effective ranking.

Set availability, rate, and location​

Goal: Tell the network when you can work, what you charge, and where you're based.

  1. On the Overview tab, choose an Availability Status: Available Now, Limited, Booked, or Not Looking.
  2. Enter your Hourly Rate (USD) and Hours Per Week.
  3. Set your City, Country, and Timezone.
  4. Click Save Changes.

Your status and weekly hours feed the Availability dimension of match scoring, and your rate feeds Cost Efficiency. See Availability & Work Environment for how each status affects your ranking.

Upload an avatar​

Goal: Add a profile photo shown throughout the platform.

  1. On the Overview tab, click the avatar in the hero section (it shows a camera icon on hover).
  2. Choose an image file. The upload progress is shown on the avatar.

Avatar uploads accept JPEG, PNG, WebP, or GIF up to 5 MB.

Goal: Connect your GitHub, LinkedIn, and portfolio.

  1. Go to Profile → Links (/person/profile/links).
  2. Enter your GitHub, LinkedIn, and Portfolio / Website URLs.
  3. Click Save Changes.

GitHub passive verification

Connecting GitHub here (and via Settings → Integrations) lets Illumera passively verify some of your skills from your commit activity. Verified skills show a GitHub Verified badge on your Skills page.

Control who can see your profile​

Goal: Choose how discoverable you are in the federated network.

  1. Go to Profile → Visibility (/person/profile/visibility).
  2. Choose one federated visibility level:
    • Marketplace — Discoverable by any company on Illumera.
    • Federated — Visible to your network partners only.
    • Tenant Only — Visible within your organization.
    • Private — Hidden from all search.

Private hides you from every search across the network. If you're open to work, use Marketplace so companies can find you.
