Availability & Work Environment
Two things tell the network how and when you want to work: your availability (status and
weekly hours) and your work environment assessment. Together they drive the Availability
and Culture Fit dimensions of your match score. The work environment
assessment lives at /person/work-environment.
/person/work-environmentSet your availability status
Goal: Control your ranking priority in company searches.
Set your status and weekly hours from your Profile → Overview. All statuses remain visible in search results, but lower-availability statuses receive a reduced Availability score that suppresses your overall ranking.
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Available | Actively seeking new engagements. Appears prominently in searches. |
| Limited | Partially committed; some hours available. Visible in searches. |
| Booked | Fully committed. Still appears in results but receives a near-zero Availability score (0.1), which significantly lowers your ranking. |
| Not Looking | Not seeking work at this time. Still appears in results but receives a zero Availability score, which heavily suppresses your ranking. |
/person/profile/overviewSet your hours per week available alongside your status. Slots define required weekly hours, and the Availability dimension compares your available hours against the requirement.
Stale availability is a common reason for missed opportunities. Update your status as soon as your capacity changes.
Complete the work environment (CVF) assessment
Goal: Capture how you like to work so culture matching ranks you accurately.
Illumera uses the Competing Values Framework (CVF) to measure work-environment compatibility
between talent and companies. The assessment at /person/work-environment has four steps.
- Questionnaire — Answer the CVF questions (a progress bar tracks you).
- Work Status — Select your citizenship / work authorization (and visa type if applicable).
- Constraints — Set your work and schedule preferences (see below).
- Results — Review your archetype radar chart and summary.
/person/work-environmentYour answers map to four archetype dimensions, which become your culture vector:
- Collaborative — people and relationships focus.
- Innovative — innovation and change focus.
- Results-Driven — results and market-position focus.
- Structured — structure and consistency focus.
When computing match scores, your vector is aligned against each company or slot's reference weights, then adjusted for work-mode, travel, clearance, and schedule compatibility.
Completing the assessment unlocks the full Culture Fit dimension. Without it, that dimension defaults to a neutral midpoint, reducing your overall match score quality.
Set your work constraints
Goal: Declare the practical conditions that must be compatible with a slot.
On the Constraints step, set:
- Work location — Remote only, Mostly remote, Hybrid, Mostly on-site, On-site only, or No preference.
- Travel tolerance — No travel, Minimal, Moderate, Frequent, or Extensive.
- Clearance level — None, Public Trust, Secret, Top Secret, or TS/SCI.
- Schedule — Standard 9–5 Eastern, Flexible hours, Async-first, Shift-based, or No preference.
- Preferred team size and collaboration style.
/person/work-environmentThese feed into the Culture Fit dimension of match scoring. A slot that requires a clearance you don't hold, for example, lowers your Culture Fit score.
Review your results
Goal: Understand your archetype profile and retake the assessment when needed.
The Results step shows your archetype radar chart, a primary-tendency breakdown, your work status and preferences summary, and — when you reach it from a specific slot — a slot alignment card with an overall match percentage and constraint checks. Use Retake assessment any time your preferences change.
